Simpson Strong-Tie FWANZ Installation Overview

  1. Use all specified fasteners as per the general notes.
  2. Fasten the connector directly to the outside face of the rim board with specified nails.
  3. Ensure the connector is located within 4 inches of adjacent joist/blocking for floor joist spacing up to 48 inches o.c.
  4. For parallel floor joists, use full-depth blocking in the first two bays.
  5. Avoid splice joints on the rim board in the same bay unless blocking is placed on both sides of the splice.
  6. Use backer blocks when I-joist rim material is used, installed per manufacturer recommendations.
